FDCP Chair Liza Dino All Out In Making Sure That The First Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino With 12 Local Films Shown Nationwide Will Be A Big Success

FDCP CHAIR LIZA Dino Seguerra, who is sincere and indefatigable in her desire to help boost the local film industry, can’t help but become emotional while delivering her welcome speech at the launch of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino or PPP at the new Seda Hotel. It’s a passion project her and she’s glad that it's well attended. Many stars, writers, directors and producers, plus the entertainment press, came to show their support for the event.

The filmfest has 12 local films as entries and a lot of its stars came to plug their own movie, including Martin del Rosario of “Manananggal sa Unit 23B”, JC Santos of “100 Tula Para kay Stella”, Kean Cipriano and Rocco Nacino of “Barboys”, Candy Pangilinan of “Star na si Van Damme Stallone”, Arnold Reyes of “Birdshot”, Therese Malvar of “Hamog”, Bembol Roco of “Pauwi Na” and Dianne Medina and Jeric Raval of “AWOL”. Other entries are “Paglipay” with Anna Luna, “Patay na si Hesus” with Jaclyn Jose, “Salvage” with Jessy Mendiola and “Triptiko”.

Liza’s partner, Aiza Seguerra was there for the youth-oriented film entries in Sineng Kabataan. Let’s all support this worthwhile project of Liza and Aiza that will help foster more awareness for Filipino films nationwide and also help give more jobs to local film workers.

We just notice that the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino is better promoted than Cinemalaya. The stars of the various entries are also actively promoting it in various malls, provincial cities and college campuses. The entries will be shown in more than 700 theaters nationwide from August 16 to 22.

To help promote it, there will be a Pista at the Park with a parade of stara at the Luneta on August 13, Sunday, which will also be a celebration of the country’s fiesta culture. This will offer food, games and performances from our brightest stars. It is free and everyone is invited to this event that starts at 9 AM with chalk art painting, henna tattoo session, kite making and flying, baybayin writing and demos on animation.

Games to be played include patintero, luksong baka, sack race, tug of war, etc. After the motorcade of stars, they will interact freely with their fans. During the filmfest, students can get tickets for only P150 in Metro Manila and P100 outside of MM, plus a package of 4 plus 1 barkada promo for viewers who will buy four tickets and get one free. For SM Cinemas, viewers may get a limited edition PPP ePlus card for only P990 to watch any six films. Get your tickets now and choose early which of the 12 films you’d like to watch. We’ll review all the films that we’ll see during the run of the festival.
