Barbie Forteza Feels So Lucky On Having No Less Than Eight Hunky Guys Competing For Her Attention In 'Meant To Be' That's Extended Until June

BARBIE FORTEZA is very happy for winning the Gawad Tanglaw best supporting actress award recently for “Tuos”, where she managed to shine on her own against Superstar Nora Aunor. It’s her fourth acting recognition. She first won the Star best child actor award for the indie film “Puntod” when she was 11 years old. Then she won the Cinemalaya best supporting actress award for “Mariquina”. Last year, she won an international honor at the Fantasporto Filmfest in Portugal as best actress for “Laut”.

“When I was doing all those films, I had no inkling na mananalo pala ako ng award dahil sa kanila,” she says. “Basta I just give them all my best. I’m really very thankful na nabibigyan ako ng magagandang roles na drama sa movies and, on TV naman, more of romantic comedy ang ginagawa ko, like in ‘Meant to Be’, na sobrang tinanggap ng tao kaya extended kami for two months. Dapat natapos na kami noong April, pero dahil nga sa taas ng rating, up to June na raw ang airing namin.”

She now has four more new leading men in “Meant to Be”: Dave Bornea, Matthias Rhoads, Vince Vandorpe and Carl Cervantes. They’re collectively called the GAYA Boys. Dave, a discovery from Starstruck who’s a member of the One Up boyband and has appeared in "Alyas Robin Hood", plays Andrew, a photographer with Spanish blood. Matthias, who was discovered from a Jollibee commercial, plays a Fil-Am named Gordon who’s a balikbayan from New York. Vince plays Ivan Dorschner’s cousin who’s the son of Sheryl Cruz and is of Belgian ancestry. Carl was discovered from Starstruck 6 and plays the half brother of Matthias. What can she say about these new guys?

“E di ang swerte ko, di ba? Dun pa lang sa dating apat, ang dami ng naiinggit sa’kin, gusto na akong sabunutan, tapos ngayon, may nadagdag pang four more heartthrobs. Sobrang haba na talaga ng hair ko. Abot na sa floor!” Barbie laughs. “Pero siempre, much closer pa rin ako doon sa first four. Getting to know each other pa lang kami nitong bagong apat, e.”

How would she describe her relationship now with the original four guys who are tagged as the JEYA Boys? “Sa kanila, si Ken ang happy pill ko. Kahit puyat at pagod na, malakas pa rin ang energy at malaking bagay na napapasaya niya ako. Lagi kaming nagtatawanan. Si Jak, dati ko nang nakatrabaho at kabisado na rin niya ako. Sa tingin pa lang, he knows kapag lowbatt na ako and he comforts me in his own way. Si Ivan, good conversationalist at malalim kaming nakakapag-usap about personal things. Si Addy, siyang pinakabago sa lahat at curious siya sa culture natin, pati sa family ko kasi kinakausap niya ang parents ko. Gusto raw niyang makapag-asawa ng Pilipina. Lahat sila, kasundo ko, friends ko, and as of now, pantay-pantay pa rin lang ang tingin ko sa kanila.”
