Bea Alonzo On The Possibility Of Reconciling Anew With Gerald Anderson While Doing 'How To Be Yours'

BEA ALONZO has gotten rid of the annoying hair color that she sported when she did a cameo role in “Love Me Tomorrow”. She’s now back to her former alluring and adorable self in her new movie with Gerald Anderson, “How to Be Yours”. Didn’t she have any reluctance working with Gerald after they had a short-lived romance five years ago?

“Ako naman, never tumanggi sa trabaho,” she says. “Actually, noon pa kami dapat na magkatrabaho, lagi lang hindi natutuloy. Sa akin, walang problema kahit sinong katrabaho ko. It depends more on the story, sa character that I will play, and as long as I believe in it and in the material, gagawin ko.” So is there a chance for them to rekindle their romance since they’re both unattached at the moment? “I don’t know. Hindi ko masabi kasi hindi naman namin iniisip yan. Basta sa ngayon, we’re just working together on this project at sobrang nage-enjoy kaming magkasama sa shooting, along with our director, Dan Villegas. So I don’t want to go to anywhere else other than that. I just want to embrace every moment that I feel right now while working with them.”

Does she believe in the saying that love is lovelier the second time around? “Hindi ko alam, kasi hindi ko pa naman nasusubukang makipagbalikan with anyone of my exes. Ang hirap sagutin kasi hindi pa nga nangyayari sa akin. Hindi ko pa nagdaraanan.”

So how did she feel when she started shooting the movie with Gerald? “Noong una, to be honest, sobrang weird. Hindi naman kami sanay na nakikita together. E, now, it’s for work, so weird lang noong una. But now, we’re very comfortable na sa isa’t isa. I think makikita nyo naman yun sa movie kapag pinanood nyo.”

Gerald admits their relationship did not prosper then because he was stupid and immature. A lot of people were against them and he listened to all the unsolicited advice. Did they have a formal closure then? “Right then, wala kasi it was such a short relationship, but through time, nagkaroon naman. Naging okay kami.”

Does she see any changes in Gerald after five years? “Oo naman, at natutuwa ako to see na talagang nag-mature na siya. Ang ganda ng growth niya. Alam mo na he learned a lot from his past experiences. He may have scars but they are beautiful scars, kasi ebidensiya ng lessons he learned from life and I admire him for that. I think he’s a better person now.”

Did they have a love scene in the movie? “Yes, kasi this is about the anatomy of a relationship, so meron. At first, I was so nervous. Kabang-kaba ako. Pero pinatatawa niya ako. Bigla na lang siyang nagma-macho dancing sa harapan ko. He did that to make me feel comfortable, so naging fun siya. I think viewers will be able to relate to my role as Anj, who has difficulty choosing over love and career. Naging very successful chef kasi ako rito, to the point na napabayaan ko yung relationship namin ni Gerald as Nino. Beautifully written ang characters namin kaya tiyak na mae-enjoy ng viewers.”
