After Their First Solo Movie & First Anniversary As A Love Team, What's Next For The Alden Richards-Maine Mendoza Love Team

THIS WEEK, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza is celebrating their first anniversary and their solo movie, “Imagine You and Me”, is opening in theaters on Wednesday. To support them, McDonald’s, which they’re endorsing, has come up with their new TV commercial which incorporates some scenes from their movie and even showing Alden speaking convincingly in Italian. McDo also put up their own huge billboards to plug the AlDub movie. The movie is much awaited by their fans as they have a lips to lips kissing scene in the ending. Their first time to do so.

The AlDub nation of their fans are fully supporting their movie with so many block screenings. Maine Mendoza celebrated her first anniversary in showbiz last Saturday with a mini-concert and her official title theme song for “Imagine You and Me” is now a certified hit on iTunes charts. There’s also a very romantic duet version with Alden that’s a great favorite of their fans.

On Saturday, they will have a grand 1st anniversary celebration in “Eat Bulaga” and their widely followed Kalyeserye. They also topped Yes Magazine's list of Most Beautiful People this year and they will be on the cover of its special issue. Yes Mas will proclaim them today at Luxent Hotel. They will also be the cover story of Reader's Digest for its August issue.

No doubt this is all very successful, but the next question the people running their careers should ask is: what is in store for AlDub after the Kalyeserye? Will they have their own solo TV series on primetime? This early, what we hear is that Alden will next be paired with Jennylyn Mercado in the local TV remake of the hit Koreanovela, “My Love from the Star”, which, most probably, will not be that attractive to AlDub fans since they’re not all identified with each other.

But as much as GMA-7 management would want to pair Alden and Maine in their own soap, this is not an easy thing to do simply because Maine is not under contract with GMA. She’s actually managed by APT Entertainment of Mr. Tony Tuviera who discovered her as the Dubsmash Queen and later successfully built her up as Alden’s ka-love team.

Maine has shown she can act persuasive on camera in projects produced by APT, like the daytime series “Princess in the Palace”, the Holy Week presentation “God Gave Me You”, and in her very first movie, “My Bebe Love”, which even won for her a Metro-Manila Filmfest best supporting actress award. So the request of AlDub fans now is for APT to allow GMA-7 to borrow Maine from them so she can do a solo teleserye on prime time with Alden instead of him being paired with Jennylyn.
