Charo Santos Co-Stars With John Lloyd Cruz In Her Comeback Movie, 'Ang Babaeng Humayo', By Lav Diaz

CHARO SANTOS CONCIO didn’t reveal what her comeback movie is all about at the presscon of the 25th anniversary presentation of her “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, but slowly, more details about the production are coming out. It was filmed on location Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, which is where Charo and her family really hail from.

Writer-director Lav Diaz shot for ten days and the movie is titled “Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” and will run for four hours (typical of Lav’s movies). It is about forgiveness and sacrifice and is said to be inspired by the classic short story of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, “God Sees the Truth But Waits”.

Sharing top billing with Charo in the cast are John Lloyd Cruz, Michael de Mesa, Nonie Buencamino and wife Shamaine Centenera, and Cacai Bautista. It’s slated for a July release and here’s hoping it will get more public support than Lav’s last movie, the eight-hour “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis”.
