But naturally, the fans of the JaDine love team are up in arms against Star Cinema’s move and expressed their anger on a blog site saying they’ll support the movie of their idols, no matter what. What about James and Nadine themselves? How do they feel about it?
“Siempre, we’re very sad,” says James. “Sana wala na lang direct competition like that so both films have better chances at the box office.”
“Kami naman ang nauna sa May 4 playdate,” says Nadine. “But it’s up to the viewers na lang who they will support, basta we guarantee that our movie is very entertaining and full of wonderful kilig moments from start to end. Some scenes in ‘This Time’ were shot on location in the beautiful place called Saga in Japan at ang ganda-ganda talaga.”
“I was happy for Nadine kasi it’s her first time to see cherry blossoms in bloom,” says James. “It’s been her dream since she was a kid to see it, so I was very happy for her. Hindi ganoong pinupuntahan ng Pinoy ang Saga and there are a lot of beautiful places in it. Five days kami nag-shoot in Saga and you’ll see in the movie how lovely it is.”
How does it feel working with your loved one? “Siempre, you’re always inspired. It’s easy to wake up in the morning and go to the shoot. Enjoy kami, kasi Nadine and I have been working with each other for two years, so we really know each other pretty well by now.”
What’s the story of “This Time”? “James plays Coby and I am Ava,” says Nadine. “We’re friends from childhood but we only see each other every summer. Parang it’s a long distance relationship and how love can blossom kahit bihira lang kayo magkita. It’s really a movie perfect for the summer. Very light lang siya but it has a lot heart and touching moments.”
The movie will have its premiere night on Tuesday, May 3 and opens nationwide on May 4. A week later, they fly together to the U.S.A. and Canada for their JaDine Love Concert Tour as James celebrates his 23rd birthday on May 11.
And what’s Nadine’s birthday wish for her boyfriend? “Good health, less intrigues and bashing, at siempre, more success. Sana maging super blockbuster ang movie naming ‘This Time’ and also all our concerts here and abroad.”
