Janine says she feels more comfortable with Aljur Abrenica now that they’re paired in “Once Again”. “Nagkasama na kami before sa ‘Dangwa’ but we didn’t end up with each other,” she says. “Doon, hindi kami masyadong nakapagkuwentuhan. But here in ‘Once Again’, nagkaroon kami ng more chance na makapag-usap so mas lumalim ang aming samahan and we got to know each other better.”
She’s also excited about the story that they’re doing, which is about reincarnation. “Maganda yung material na ibinigay sa amin. Every time I read the script, I’m thrilled to find out kung ano ang mangyayari sa love story ng characters that we play.”
She and Aljur both play dual roles. The story starts more than two decades ago in the province. Aljur as Edgar, a poor baker, falls in love with Reign, the daughter of a rich man, Christopher de Leon (Janine’s grandpa in real life), who naturally frowns on their love affair as he wants Reign to marry the son of his equally wealthy business associate, Pythos Ramirez as Lukas. Pythos gets so mad when he learns about Reign’s love affair with Edgar. He kills Edgar and also accidentally kills Reign.
Cut to 20 years later. Aljur is reincarnated as Aldrin while Janine is reincarnated as Des. They meet again by chance, but in a different setting, Manila, and they strangely get attracted to each other quickly like deja vu. But it seems that history will repeat itself. Their killer, Lukas, has gotten older and is now played by Joko Diaz. He will once again be a hindrance to the consummation of the love affair of Janine and Aljur in their present selves.
Also in the cast Bembol Roco and Irma Adlawan as the parents of Aljur as Edgar, Emilio Garcia and Timmy Cruz as the parents of Aljur as Aldrin, Sharmaine Arnaiz as the mom of Janine as Reign, Sheryl Cruz as the biological mother of Janine as Des who she loses as a baby, Jean Garcia as the foster mom of Des who raises her, Chanda Romero as the oppressive mom of Jean, Jeric Gonzales as the younger brother of Aldrin who becomes his rival over Des, and Thea Tolentino as the stepdaughter of Sheryl Cruz who’s madly in love with Aldrin and will desperately do everything to steal him away from Des.
