WINWYN MARQUEZ plays her first starring role in a full length movie as the leading lady of Vhong Navarro in the fantasy-comedy “Unli Life” (which used to be titled “Tokwa’t Bad Boy” and we’re glad they changed the title.) Also in the movie which has a June playdate is Winwyn’s real life dad, Joey Marquez, who will play an important role as the mysterious bar tender who will give the chance to Vhong Navarrro to live several lives.

“It’s a privilege to working with a topnotch comedian like Vhong Navarro and also working with my own dad na kilala rin sa husay sa comedy in this movie,” she says. “Kailangan talagang mag-level up ako nang hindi nila ako maiwanan in entertaining the audience.”

Winwyn’s career really got a big boost after she won as the first Pinay Reina HispanoAmericana last year in Colombia. She has now also just renewed her contract as an exclusive artist of GMA Network.

“I’m very happy to stay as a Kapuso,” she says. “Sobrang saya ko kasi management is now doing its
best to give me a new program na talagang babagay sa akin.”

Why kind of show would she like to do? “I want to challenge myself and try doing an action role na mala-Lara Croft or Scarlett Johansson. Kung may magandang vehicle that will require me to do action scenes, I’d really love to do that.”

With regard to her lovelife, her romance with Mark Herras is going strong. But they’re not in a hurry to walk down the aisle anytime soon. “Pareho kaming marami pang balak na ibang gawin sa buhay so we’re not yet ready to settle down. That can definitely wait.”

WE JUST saw docus graphically showing how mining destroyed our environment in such areas as Zamboanga del Sur, Marinduque and Didipio in Nueva Vizcaya. Nakakapagngitngit ang pagwasak sa ating bayan at sa ating kalikasan. It is a damning evidence against the rapaciousness of mining companies, thanks to the efforts of DENR Sec. Gina Lopez to stop the destructive results of open pit mining on our country and the culture and livelihood of ethnic tribes. As they say, to see is to believe.

Do you known that the Philippines is the 5th most mineral-rich country on earth for gold, copper, nickel and chromite and we have the largest gold-copper deposit in the world? Foreigners are allowed to own mining assets in our country and yet they pay only a very low 2% for what they get. The mining companies may make all the protest they want against Gina Lopez’s move to close the mines, but the visual images of the way they wantonly destroy our natural resources will negate whatever they say.

GMA News TV will be airing a tribute to the late Nelson Mandela - former South African President who stood as a beacon of hope to a country fractured by apartheid or racial segregation.
Nelson Mandela was a shining example of what one man can do to change the world. Born into an oppressive regime, he fought to overcome prejudice and hate to unify a nation. He was imprisoned for decades because of his beliefs. Mandela's dedication resulted in his inauguration as the first black President of South Africa, his award of the Nobel Peace Prize and ultimately, his role in overthrowing the apartheid regime.

The documentary “One Man” not only traces the personal story and struggle of South Africa ’s most famous leader, but also charts the history of racism in the country. Dubbed in Filipino, it airs on December 20, Friday at 8PM, only on GMA News TV Channel 11.
