But even before this is shown in local theaters, he’s already shooting three more new films. He’s about to wrap up work for internationally acclaimed director, Brillante Mendoza, in a movie about the current war on drugs, “The Right to Kill”, which is bound to be controversial considering the brouhaha over the killing of 17-year old Kian de los Santos.
Then he will start shooting “Persons of Interest” for writer-director Ralston Jover, where he will play a blind cook accused of poisoning his much older wife, played by Liza Lorena. After this, he will go to Puerto Princesa to shoot a movie titled “Palawan” for writer-directo Aureus Solito, opposite Assunta de Rossi and Sue Prado.“Nakakatuwa kasi puro makabuluhang pelikula ang natotoka sa akin,” he says. “Lahat, may magandang tema o mensahe tungkol sa ating bayan o sa ating lipunan, at puro award-winning directors ang namamahala so we can be assured of a high quality film. Aside from this, kasama rin ako sa TV drama na ‘Amo’, also directed by Brillante Mendoza at co-star ko sina Derek Ramsay at Vince Rillon, seen on Sundays at 9 PM.”
He himself is co-producing “Persons of Interest” with businessmen Romy Lindain and Bobby Alvarez. “I agreed to co-produce it kasi masyado akong nagandahan sa material na sinulat ni Direk Ralston. Pero hindi naman ako ang nakikialam sa finances kundi ang manager ko, si Dennis Evangelista. Siya na ang bahala tungkol diyan so I can focus mainly sa role ko lang at sa acting ko kasi nga lalagyan ng prosthetic make up ang mga mata ko rito para maging convincing na bulag talaga ako. Kapag naka-prosthetic na ako, wala talaga akong makita kasi bulag talaga ako, unlike yung mga ibang gumaganap na blind na nagbubulag-bulagan lang. Ako, wala talaga akong nakikita kaya they have to guide me around during the shooting.”
