Romnick Sarmenta & Harlene Bautista Play A Childless Couple In Director Brillante Mendoza's New Film For TV5, 'Anak'

ROMNICK SARMENTA and real life wife Harlene Bautista make a comeback on TV as the lead stars in Director Brillante Mendoza’s TV movie, “Anak”. They play Lex and Riza, a couple who've been childless after several years of marriage, which is the opposite of what they are in real life since they actually have five children now.

After "Tsinoy", “Everlasting”, “Pagtatapos” and “Panata” that got good reviews, “Anak” is the latest offering of the monthly “Brillante Mendoza Presents”. It shows the sacrifices a couple will go through just to achieve their dream of having a child of their own. They go to the Obando Fertility Rites and dance as a couple for Santa Clara to ask for a child.

The film written by Arianne Martinez also explores the faith of Filipinos in bringing their problems to the Lord to help them in times of trials. After lots of prayers and devotion, Harlene conceives even if she’s over 40 years old. But she has a difficult pregnancy that threatens her unborn child. She suffers from hypertension and delivers a premature baby that has to be left in the hospital for more than a month.

“It’s our first time to experience working with Direk Brillante and we learned so much from him,” says Harlene. “I’m sure ‘Anak’ will touch the hearts of many viewers who have strong faith in the Lord and who love their families.”

Supporting Romnick and Harlene in the film are Perla Bautista as Joy, Bea Saw as Michelle, Gay Quililan as Lydia and Kimmy Maclang as Beth. "Anak" will be shown this Sunday night, June 25, at 10:30 PM on TV5 after the travel show "Lakbai" hosted by Baste Duterte. Don’t miss it.
