“I’m really excited kasi it’s been a long while since I’ve done drama on primetime,” he says. "Nag-guest ako sa ‘Encantadia’ but it’s a fantasy at sandali lang yun. Unlike here na drama talaga at full length ang role ko I'm also very happy with the team of co-actors na kasama namin. I'm so happy with them kasi I can honestly feel 'yung passion nila to make the soap work. Even our Director Irene Villamor, I can feel yung sincerity ng efforts niya to make the script very effective to touch the audience in each episode. First time ko siyang nakasama, assistant director pa lang siya ni Direk Joyce Bernal in the ‘Eat Bulaga’ Lenten special na ‘God Gave Me You’ at dun pa lang, ang dami na niyang inputs on how to interpret our characters ni Maine Mendoza. Siempre nakakakaba dahil sobrang lakas ng papalitan naming show, ‘Alyas Robin Hood’, na consistent toprater talaga. But sobrang nakakabilib ang enthusiasm ng lahat ng kasama namin sa show to make sure na worth watching ito, so I’m very optimistic na magugustuhan ng viewers ang ‘Destined to Be Yours’ that will start airing after ‘Encantadia’. ”
So how is it working with Maine in a serious drama series? “Ibang-iba ito sa Kalyeserye na ang aim, mas magpatawa at magpakilig. Dito, seryoso yung story. Nagdrama rin kami sa movie naming ‘Imagine Me and You’, pero ibang-ibang Maine ang mapapanood nyo rito. You’ll fall in love with her all over again after ma-in love kayo noon sa kanya sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ as the Dubsmash Queen.”Alden plays Benjie, a carefree young architect while Maine is Sinag, a provincial radio DJ who cares for the environment in their mountain town called Pelangi. When Alden is assigned to construct something that will endanger mother nature in their town, Maine opposes him so their relationship starts with a big conflict.
Supporting them are: Boots Anson Roa and Tommy ABuel as Alden’s very rich grandparents, Lotlot De Leon as Amanda Rosales, the loving and affectionate mother of Benjie; Gardo Versoza as Teddy Obispo, the husband of Sally and a devoted father to Sinag. Also in the cast are Ronnie Henares is Dante Escobar, the corrupt mayor of Pelangi and the father of Marjorie. Ina Feleo is Catalina Rosales, the daughter of Vicente and Helen who will try to bring down Benjie. Sheena Halili is Ninay, the town gossip and Sinag’s closest childhood friend. Dominic Roco is Jason, Benjie’s college best friend who volunteers to help and come with him to the province of Pelangi. Juancho Trivino is Badong, another childhood best friend of Sinag who is also secretly in love with her. RJ Padilla is Arman, Badong’s outgoing friend who secretly has feelings for Ninay. Koreen Medina is Marjorie Escobar, the daughter of the richest family in Pelangi who later on falls for Benjie.
This romantic series also features the return of Ms. Janice de Belen to GMA. She breathes life to the character of Sally Obispo, the cheerful, modern, and quirky mother of Sinag who loves painting and psychic reading.
