Derek is one of the hosts of TV5’s new Sunday noontime show, “Happy Truck ng Bayan” that starts airing at 11 AM, June 14, but he failed to make it at its press launch, just like the show’s other host, Janno Gibbs. TV5 Entertainment Head Wilma Galvante said he had an all day taping then inside some caves for his “Extreme Challenge” show. Derek’s other show is the sitcom “Mac & Chiz” with comedian Empoy.
With regard to his lovelife, Derek used to be very secretive about the identity of his new ladylove because she’s non-showbiz. But it looks like they’re both more open now about introducing her to the public. She recently made an appearance in his “Extreme” series and even did a risky stunt going up a crane. Her name is Joanne Villablanca and she hails from Cebu. She’s currently working with a big car company.Derek has posted their pictures together taken during their out of town trips. Just recently, they went mountain climbing and had their photos taken at the top of Mt. Pulag, amidst all its beautiful clouds. Joanne is very pretty, just like Derek’s past GF’s, notably Angelica Panganiban and Cristine Reyes. She can very well join showbiz if she’d put her mind into it. We won’t be surprised if Derek would make her appear in “Happy Truck ng Bayan”, just like her surprise appearance in his “Extreme” series.
But when Derek exposed photos of his bonding moments with Joanne, he also paved the way for the usual haters and bashers to say all sorts of nasty things against Joanne. And they did all the bashing right on Derek’s own social media account. But obviously, Derek has learned his lesson and chose to just ignore all of them. He didn’t make a single reply to any one of them, which for us is the best attitude since, if you’d reply to such sad people with miserable lives, you’d only prolong the story.
