Michelle Madrigal At Her Most Daring In Launching Film, 'Bacao' (Corn)

MICHELLE MADRIGAL started with ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest in 2004. Now, ten years later and after excelling in contravida roles, she gets her biggest break playing the lead role in “Bacao”, an entry in the FDCP Filmfest that open on October 29. Produced by Oro de Siete Productions and written and directed by Edgardo “Boy” VInarao, Michelle plays a barrio lass named Mayet who is coveted by all the men in their town.

“This is my most daring project so far,” she says. “I’ve posed for FHM pero may suot pa rin ako. Dito, I was required to be show more in my three love scenes with Arnold Reyes. I’ve had many offers before to go sexy but I wasn’t ready yet. Nag-yes ako noon sa project ni Zoren Legapi na pole dancer and even trained for it, hindi naman natuloy. So ngayon talaga yung perfect time. Direk Boy Vinarao made me read his script then let me think it over muna for a few days. I told him kung ano lang ang kaya kong gawin and okay naman so kanya, so I said yes. We shot the film sa cornfields in San Manuel, Tarlac. Bacao kasi means corn in their dialect. Corn farmers kami rito. Si Arnold ang napangasawa ko at best friends namin ang mag-asawa ring sina Alvin Anson at Marife Necesito. After four years, di pa rin kami magka-baby kahit wala naman kaming diprensiya, samantalang sina Marife, anak ng anak. Humingi ako ng payo sa isang faith healer, si Leo Martinez, na gusto lang pala akong i-rape. The film turns into a thriller. Si Alvin, gusto rin akong i-rape. Someone dies in the end.”

How’s it working with Arnold Reyes? “He knows I’ve never done a love scene before so very supportive siya. Noong una, nagkakahiyaan pa kasi first time naming magkasama sa work. But maalaga siya. After each daring scene, he’d even ask me, okay ka lang.”

She’s been linked before to JC De Vera and John Hall. Did she ask the permission of her current cager boyfriend to do sexy scenes? “No. Wala siyang say sa career ko. Decision ko ito. Huwag na lang natin siya isali rito kasi pag nagiging public ang love life ko, nagugulo lang. Secret na lang siya.”

How come she hasn’t done a teleserye for sometime? “My last soaps were ‘Temptation of Wife’ and ‘Adarna’. Hindi na-renew ang contract ko.”

What happened? “I don’t know. Basta lahat daw ng alaga ni Tita Annabelle, hindi ni-renew ng GMA ang contract.”
