THE BAND CALLED THIS BAND HAS A NEW POTENTIAL HIT, 'REBOUND', AFTER THEIR CATCHY TUNE, 'KAHIT AYAW MO NA'

THIS BAND winning as best new group artist of the year in the PMPC MUSIC AWARDS

THIS BAND,  a local music group that made it big with their catchy monster hit, “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” (a ditty about unrequited love that was also used as the title song in a Viva movie), won two awards recently.

They won for Best Performance by a Group in the Awit Awards and, in the Philippine Movie Press Club Music Awards, they bagged the coveted trophy for the Best New Group  Artist of the Year plum.

This Band now comes up with a new “hugot” song entitled “Rebound”. The song is about a stop gap relationship that ultimately ends in heartbreak. It proves that they’re really the best representatives of today’s generation of listeners when it comes to “hugot” songs about heartache and pain.

Their fans are aware of the group’s expertise when it comes to tackling such troubled relationships when it comes to music so they eagerly await for This Band’s new songs.

In effect, the song “Rebound” says that no one is exempt from losing their balance and composure when it comes to unnerving conflicts of the heart. But “Rebound” is not your usual sentimental caterwauling ballad that wallows in misery.

The song is actually more positive in its outlook, keyboard heavy in its conscious effort to let go of one’s wretched feelings.

This is easily seen in the lyrics: “Mga gabing napuyat sana’y tinulog ko na lang/ at ngayo’y buhay ay makalat, sana’y naghanap na ng iba pang mga gagawin at sarili’y ayusin/ Marupok na puso ko, ako ay layuan mo.”

Surely, the singer makes sure that she is no ordinary doormat who enjoys wallowing in feeling miserable.

The Las Piñas-based quintet is composed of lead vocalist Andrea Manzano, guitarists Euwie Loria (rhythm) and Raymart Gubat (lead), bassist Miccael Galvan, drummer John Macaranas and keyboardist Melvin Carso.

They loosely call their music as pop, but listening to their songs, it’s easy hear that there’s more to this sextet than meets the eye, what with their catchy listener-friendly melodies and lyrics.

Andrea is one of the reasons This Band is becoming such a big draw. She may look petite but her vocals truly pack a wallop.

Her emotional dexterity is apparent in their other songs, like “Hindi Na Nga”, “Bitaw Na” and “Tampisaw”, whose messages listeners can easily relate with, so it’s not surprising that they top the charts in Spotify, Viral Philippines and other outlets.

This Band premiered their new song last February 1 in their special gig entitled “This Jam: This Band Single Launch”, held at the rooftop of Vista Mall All Home rooftop. Among their guests stars were Viva’s sultry chanteuse Janine Tenoso, plus John Roa, Miss Ramonne and bands Kuatro Kantos, PAR, Out of Order and Pusakalye.

You can now get their potential hit song, “Rebound”, from many available music apps online.
