ROCCO NACINO has a solo presscon hosted by GMA Network to show their love and support for him and his Metro-Manila Filmfest entry, “Write About Love”, the directorial debut of former assistant director Crisanto Aquino, who also co-wrote the script.

“It’s a romcom about lovers and ex-lovers told like a film within a film,” says Rocco. “Miles Ocampo is a young writer who collaborates with me, the more seasoned senior writer, in re-writing the script of an unfinished movie starring Joem Bascon and Yeng Constantino.

"Noong una, di kami magkasundo kasi we have conflicting personalities as she is NBSB, no boyfriend since birth. But as we try to write the script together, we discover more things about each other and what it takes to write about love.”

How did he get the role? “I auditioned for it. Actually, I auditioned for both the male roles, pati yung kay Joem Bascon. They gave me the role of the senior writer, which is the exact opposite of me in real life kasi introverted siya, very reserved. E, ako, I can easily get along fine with all sorts of people, but I think may nakita sila sa’kin during the auditions that made me qualify for the role.”

Rocco says 2019 ends well for him with him having an entry in the annuall MMFF and 2020 also starts brightly for him with his new primetime soap, “Descendants of the Sun”, GMA-7’s initial offering for the new year. It’s based on the hit Koreanovela and required him to undergo military training.

This encouraged him to go on with the training and he is now ranked Petty Officer Third Class of the Philippine Navy. Although he is really a registered nurse, his involvement in “Descendants of the Sun” opened his eyes on “how it feels like to be of better service to our country.”

It’s common knowledge he has a pretty colorful lovelife. He was first linked to Sheena Halili who’s now engaged to someone else, then with Lovi Poe who later broke up wit him. Would he still be able to work with Lovi in a future project?
“Hindi na siguro,” he says.

Oh, the breakup is that bad? “Hindi na papayag ang mama ko. I was confined in a hospital. That’s how bad it was. But I’d rather not go into it now. WIth the help of my family and some very good friends, I was able to recover. Nakabangon din.”

And what insights did he get from the experience?

“That you cannot love without experiencing some kind of pain, but you need to love yourself first before totally giving yourself to other people.”

But now, he has obviously mended his broken heart and he’s happy with his new love, volleyball player Melissa Gohing. He is having his own house constructed. Does  he intend it to be his and Melissa’s love nest?

“Siguro. At this point, I’d say she’s the one. We get along really fine. Bihira kami magkita now because I’m in the mountains of Sierra Madre taping ‘Descendants of the Sun’ while she’s busy with her training. Ang aga-aga niya lagi gumigising.

"But we’ve accepted each other totally and we’re happy with the limitations. She’s supportive of me and she knows I’m paired with Jasmine Curtis Smith in ‘Descendants’. When she our pictures and also, sa trailer, she even said, ang cute nyo together so tanggap niya talaga ako at ang trabaho ko.”
