Sue Ramirez Says 2019 Starts Good For Her With A New Movie, 'Dead Kids', By Globe Studios

SUE RAMIREZ was personally handpicked by writer-director Mikhail Red to play a lead role in Globe Studios’ production of the youth-oriented suspense thriller, “Dead Kids”, while the other cast members auditioned for their respective roles. She plays Janina, the love interest of newcomer Kelvin Miranda, one of the kids who kidnap their classmate, Marcus Paterson as Chuck.

“Maganda yung role ko kasi ako yung hindi basta sumusunod sa norm ng millennials,” she says. “Malinis at mabait yung character ko rito and a good role model for young people.”

“I saw her in ‘Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi’ and I liked her performance there, so I wrote the role she plays in ‘Dead Kids’ with her in mind,” says Direk Mik, who’s best known for the award-winning “Birdshot” now being shown on Netflix.

“Dead Kids” is about today’s young people who are growing up in the environment saturated by
social media, where  bullying and harrassment can be so rampant. Sue herself has been a victim by bashers and haters who must live a very boring kind of existence, so they have the habit of putting down celebrities to put some excitement into their own lives. How did Sue cope with her online detractors who called her names?

“Sa totoo lang, if it’s just ordinary criticism, I don’t really mind, palalampasin ko na,” she says. “Pero kapag sobrang vicious na at grabe na ang dating, they’re bullying you, you have to put your foot down. Kaming mga artista, favorite target talaga kami ng cyber bullies. Basta galit na galit sila sa amin even if they don’t really know us. I really cannot understand where their anger on celebrities is coming from. Very bitter.”

Her worst hater lambasted her by making nasty comments to all her posts. “This happened just last month, talagang the bully resorted to name calling to harass me. Nilait pati hitsura ko, mukha raw akong GRO, wala naman daw akong career, so I got screenshots of all her tweets and posted them online. Then I told her that there is now a law against cyber bullying and harassment and I intend to file a case against her.

"I searched for her profile and I found out that she already has two kids.  So I wrote to her, I hope your children won’t be like you when they grow up na natutuwang makasakit ng ibang tao. So when I warned her that I will take her to the NBI, nag-sorry agad siya at tinanggal na niya lahat ng comments and messages niya na hina-harass ako. So dapat ganun, wag mo talaga palampasin kapag they cross the line na.”

Sue is thankful to Direk Mik and Quark Henares of Globe Studios for making her a part of a ground-breaking movie like “Dead Kids”.

“First time ko to work with them and also with most of my co-stars like Kelvin Miranda, Vance Larena, Khalil Ramos, Gabby Padilla, and Jan Silverio, so excited talaga ako working with new people,” she adds. “I’m really thankful na maganda ang naging pasok ng 2019 sa akin kasi kauumpisa pa lang ng taon, heto, may bagong movie na agad ako and it’s intended to be entered pa sa film festivals abroad.”
