The Local And Foreign Movies That We Should Look Forward To In The New Year 2019

HERE ARE THE local and foreign films we should all watch out for this 2019:

“Born Beautiful” - the prequel to the award-winning “Die Beautiful” starring Martin del Rosario as Barbie, with Paolo Ballesteros, Lou Velosa, Akihiro Blanco and Kiko Matos, directed by Jun Lana.

“Man and Wife” - A drama based on the soap “Gulong ng Palad”, directed by Laurice Guillen, starring Gabby Concepcion and Jodi Sta. Maria.

“Eerie” - A horror movie starring Charo Santos, Bea Alonzo and Jake Cuenca. It had its premiere at Singapore International Filmfest, directed by Mikhail Red.

“Sakaling Maging Tayo” - A romantic comedy starring the McClisse love team of McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson, directed by JP Habac.

“Elise” - A different kind of romcom starring Janine Gutierrez and Enchong Dee, directed by Joel Ferrer for Regal Entertainment.

The yet untitled reunion movie of the original Sang’gres of Encantadia, Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon, Diana Zubiri and Karylle, directed by Mark Reyes.

“Heart of Mine” - Jennylyn Mercado’s second movie with Star Cinema where she’ll be paired for the first time with Richard Gutierrez and JM de Guzman.

“Kuwaresma” - a horror movie that megastar Sharon Cuneta is shooting for Erik Mati and Reality Entertainment, with John Arcilla of “Heneral Luna” as her leading man.

“Ulan” starring Nadine Lustre with Carlo Aquino Marco Gumabao and AJ Muhlach, which is about tikbalangs, directed by Irene Villamor.

“My Stepmother’s Lover” - a sexy drama with Sunshine Cruz, Martin del Rosario and Kiko Estrada.

“Burak” - Joel Lamangan’s socially relevant about the dregs of society resulting from corruption and poverty, starring Cherry Pie Picache and Jay Manalo.

Among coming Hollywood releases, the ones that are worth looking forward to are “Mary Poppins Returns”, “Bumblebee”,  “Captain Marvel” this time time played by a woman, Brie Larson, who won the Oscar best actress award for “Room” in 2015, “The Avengers: Endgame” where the superheroes finally get to defeat Thanos. There are also the live action remakes of “The Lion King”,  “Aladdin” and “Dumbo” plus sequels like “Toy Story 4”, “John Wick 3”, “Frozen 2” and the movie version of the acclaimed British series, “Downton Abbey the Movie”.
