LOCAL SHOWBIZ YEARENDER PART 2 - Those who filed cases in court, tried committing suicide and those who went to the great beyond

BEAUTY PAGEANTS - Everyone is rejoicing as we win our fourth Miss Universe title with Catriona Gray. But before that, foreign contestants in the more inferior Miss Earth pageant which is being held here in Manila complained of sexual harassment. Miss Canada, Miss England and Miss Guam all declared they were sexually harassed by a sponsor named Amado Cruz.

Other celebrity happenings: Kris Aquino made a movie comeback in “I Love You, Hater” that sadly didn’t do spectacularly well at the tills. But she played a crucial role as Princess Intan in the international hit “Crazy Rich Asians”. She filed a case against her former managing director for her company, Nicko Falcis, for allegedly swindling her company.

John Lloyd Cruz voluntarily left showbiz to lead a quiet life with Ellen Adarna in Cebu where they now live with their first born son named Elias. Diego Loyzaga, son of Teresa Loyzaga and Cesar Montano, allegedly tried to commit suicide. His role in “Los Bastardos” was killed and he is reportedly now undergoing treatment in the U.S.A. Cesar himself had to resign as Tourism Promotions Board after he got implicated in an anomalous ‘Buhay Carinderia’ project, with his DOT chief Wanda Teo also embroiled in an equally nefarious deal with her Tulfo brothers. His ex-wife Sunshine Cruz’ petition for annulment of their marriage was finally granted by the courts. Sarah Geronimo had an emotional meltdown while performing in a concert in Las Vegas. She stopped singing and apologized to the audience.

It was also reported that while promoting her new movie in Vice Ganda’s show, her mother stopped the taping when she was asked about her relationship with Matteo Guidicelli. The good news is that Matteo continues to support and back her up and their relationship is as sweet as ever. Sharon Cuneta was reunited with Gabby Concepcion in a hit TV commercial for a fastfood chain and their fans got excited about talks that they’ll also do a movie. But this did not materialize due to various reasons, Sharon was reunited instead with Richard Gomez but the box office result is not as well as expected.

ABS-CBN showbiz reporter Gretchen Fullido filed a case of sexual harassment against two ABS-CBN news executive in October. She also filed a case against former newscaster Ces Drilon for victim shaming her for saying she deserved to be sexually harassed. Christopher de Leon got hurt in a freak accident on the set of “Kambal Karibal” when a shrapnel in a scene where he is shot by Marvin Agustin really hit his leg and caused his to undergo surgery and be confined in a hospital.

Director Mike de Leon made an auspicious comeback in “Citizen Jake” and ended up in a word war with his lead actor, broadcaster Atom Araullo who tried acting for the first time. Suckers are born every minute and a local producer was gullible enough to believe that an ugly transgender is very popular in Thailand. This is Mother Sitang, who turned out to be a fake, and is now banned to set foot ever again in Manila as a persona non grata and estafa cases have been filed against him. Mocha Uson soared to fame for supporting Pres. Duterte and, as a reward, she was appointed as Presidential Communications Operations Officer. She was forced to resign after she made distasteful and anomalous videos of “Pepe-Dede” about Federalism with a corpulent gay assistant.
