Ina Feleo Plays The Lead Role Of A Scientist In The Futuristic ToFarm Filmfest Entry, 'Alimuom', To Start Showing On September 12

INA FELEO won best actress awards for the Cinemalaya entries, “Endo” and “Sanglaan”. She now gets to play another lead role in the ToFarm Filmfest entry, “Alimuom”, a sci-fi film set in the future when the atmosphere in our country has become so toxic that people live inside biodomes and are not allowed to plant anything on the soil that has become poisonous. What’s her role?

“I play a scientist who’s also a professor in a university,” says Ina. “I come from a family of scientists who serve the government and we have our own seed bank, kaya lang bawal na ang seeds kasi planting is forbidden. The government is represented by Epy Quizon as the Minister of Agriculture who gives me the task to hunt down people who are living outside of the dome. Everything we have is now made of synthetic things, including food. I will discover later that the government has a secret. It is hiding the truth na yung lupa natin, puede pa rin naman palang magtanim ng seeds at mabubuhay pa rin ang plants.”

How is it doing “Alimuom”? “It’s fun but it’s far from my comfort zone kasi nasanay ako with feelings, emotions in dramas. E, ito sci-fi, so mga dialogue ko, walang feelings, nagle-lecture lang ako. I asked our director, Keith Sicat, a lot of questions para maubo ko yung character ko. Ang kapal ng script namin but Direk Keith is good, natapos niya i-shoot buong film in six days, at marami pa kaming special effects niyan shooting scenes on a green screen ha. May battle scenes pa using laser guns na mala-Star Wars.”

Ina is really busy these days as she’s in the cast of two other films: “Gulong ng Palad”, a possible Metro-Manila Filmfest entry directed by her mom where she plays the sister of Jodi Sta. Maria with Amy Austria as their mom; and she’s also in “On the Job 2” directed by Erik Matti where she co-stars with Dennis Trillo. She’s also in a new soap, “Japino”, starring Jennylyn Mercado, to be partly shot in Japan.

We saw her at the birthday party of Malou Choa Fagar some months ago with her Italian boyfriend, Giacomo Gervasutti, a photographer. Are they still together? “Yes, it’s a long distance relationship but it’s working. We met in Venice, I was a tourist and we became friends. He has put up a restaurant, Marina Terraces, at the beach in San Vicente in Palawan so madalas na siya rito sa atin. Yung itaas will be a hostel and will formally open in October.”

Looks like she’s ready to walk down the aisle. “Ready na nga ako. Actually, gusto ko nang mag-baby kasi I’m not getting any younger. I’m just waiting for him to propose.”

She’d be like Eugene Domingo who’s husband is also Italian. Her sister, Anna, has, in turn, an American boyfriend in New York. What does their mom say about it?
“Okay naman sa kanya. After all, we’re no longer teenagers. Actually, what my mom is reluctant about is me going sexy. May sexy scenes ako in ‘Alimuom’ and also in ‘OTJ’. Before I agreed to do them, I consulted her and she said kaya mo ba? Kasi siya, she never showed skin in her entire career. When I said yes, sabi niya, ikaw, bahala ka.”

How about her boyfriend? “Ay okay lang sa kanya. He’s very supportive pagdating sa career ko.”
