Barbie is shown being stunned by the sight of his naked torso with his chiselled pectorals and abs. Didn’t he have any second thoughts about displaying his body in that scene? “Hindi naman. Anywhere I go now, parang ine-expect na nga nila na laging tatanggalin ko ang shirt ko. Anyway, naghihirap ako sa gym to get this kind of well toned body, so okay lang ipakita ko sa harap ng kamera ang fruits of my hard work.”
In the story, he plays the son of Gladys Reyes who wants to control him totally. In one scene, Gladys is shown slapping him hard not once but twice and it’s not the usual “daya” slapping scene.
“I knew tototohanin ni Ate Gladys ang sampal but kahit prepared ka na pala, masakit pa rin,” says Derrick. “Pero okay lang, it’s part of my job and it’s an honor na masampal ako ng isang Gladys Reyes na kilalang pangalan na sa pagiging isang magaling na kontrabida.”
He was linked to Bea Binene when they did “Mulawin vs. Ravena”. But now, he cannot be linked to Barbie as everyone knows she’s now on with Jak Roberto. “Okay lang yun. Walang dapat ikabahala si Jak kasi he knows he can trust me and Barbie will be in good hands.”
