Ken Chan Laughs Of Reports That He's Soon Coming Out Of The Closet Like Mark Bautista

KEN CHAN is honored to be part of the first big budgeted drama-suspense thriller on GMA-7, “The Cure”, now showing right after “24 Oras”. He’s happy with his role as a young doctor who falls in love with Arra San Agustin, but Arra’s older brother, Mark Herras, is against him and is constantly bullying him. And all this is happening while they’re battling victims of an epidemic that has turned ordinary people into flesh-eating monsters.

“Kakaiba yung show,” says Ken. “Nakakanerbiyos panoorin as all the major characters are put into danger. Ako rin, may action scenes ako rito, along with Jennylyn Mercado and Tom Rodriguez who play the leads.”

How did he feel when some quarters wrote that they’re waiting for him to come out of the closet like what Mark Bautista did? “Yes, I read sa social media about that,” he laughs. “Ang daming nakalistang mga aktor na hinihintay raw nilang mag-out at kasama ang name ko, but sorry po, wala akong gagawing coming out kasi wala naman akong itinatago. Since I played the role of a transsexual in ‘Destiny Rose’, palaging may aspersions about my gender pero I just laughed about it kasi kilala ko naman ang sarili ko. Hindi po ako gay, hindi po ako bisexual, lalaki po ako.”

Maybe they’re accusing him of being gay as he has no girlfriend now. “I’m thinking na maghanap na nga ako ng gilfriend para matigil na sila, but I don’t want to do that just to satisfy my bashers. My last girlfriend was a non-showbiz girl at nag-break kami when I got so busy doing ‘Destiny Rose’ and later, ‘Meant to Be’. Napabayaan ko kasi siya. Wala akong time. Puro work lang. So ayokong maulit yun kasi right after ‘The Cure’, GMA said may isa pa akong assignment, so sa career na lang muna ang full attention ko.”
