Rachel Alejandro's New Movie, 'Ang Larawan, The Musical', Based On Nick Joaquin's Acclaimed Play, Is Currently Competing In The Tokyo International Film Festival

RACHEL ALEJANDRO was last seen as the Lady of the Lake in the Broadway musical, “Spamalot”. Now, she’s back in the movies playing the role of Paula Marasigan in “Ang Larawan”, the musical version of Nick Joaquin’s “Portrait of an Artist as Filipino”, with songs and music by Ryan Cayabyab.

The film has been officially accepted in the current Tokyo International Filmfest, where “Die Beautiful” with Paolo Ballesteros won big last year. “Ang Larawan” will be screened on October 30 and 31. It will also have a screening at Cinematografo San Francisco in the U.S.A. on November 9.

Aside from Rachel, “Ang Larawan” stars Joanna Ampil as Rachel’s sister Candida Marasigan, Paulo Avelino as Tony Javier who messes up their quiet lives, Sandino Martin as the narrator Bitoy Camacho, plus Robert Arevalo, Celeste Legaspi, Nanette Inventor, Noel Trinidad, Ogie Alcasid, Aicelle Santos and many more. The film’s original motion picture sound track will be released by Star Music. It is also entered in the coming Metro-Manila Filmfest as a finished film and let's see if it will make it come the announcement of the eight selected official entries on November 17.
