Gloria Romero, Gets A New Show, 'Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko', And Her Own Love Interest In 'Meant To Be'

GLORIA ROMERO said that we made her cry when we declared at the presscon of her new show, “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko”, that she’s one star who should be a good role model to other stars since, after 60 years in showbiz, she remains to be well loved and highly respected in the industry. “Masaya itong show namin, pinaiiyak mo ako,” she says. As the lola here, hindi na ako kailangang lagyan ng aging prosthetic makeup kasi ayan, o, kitang-kita na lahat ng lines at eyebags sa mukha ko. And I’m proud to say that I earned all of them. After all these years, hindi pa nawawala ang passion ko sa acting and I’m always excited when I have a new show.

In the story, she plays Lola Goreng and she has a secret. She was once a fairy who fell in love with a mortal. Playing her two grandchildren are Jillian Ward as Alice and David Remo as Elvis, who are also secret fairies like her.

She has two other wards, Chlaui Malayao as Moira, a street kid, and Julius Miguel as Jorrel, a city boy. This is under the direction of Rico Gutierrez, who uses state-of-the-art animation for the show, as seen in the first episode titled “Gracia, Taong Graza”, with Marian Rivera as a rich girl with attention deficit syndrome who becomes a taong graza.

We tell Tita Glo that she now has two shows as she also plays the Lola Madonna of Jak Roberto in “Meant to Be”. Doesn’t she feel overworked?

But I also enjoy playing my role there as the Millennial Lola.

“Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” starts airing this Sunday, April 30, replacing “TsuperHero” on GMA Sunday Grande, while “Meant to Be” is seen weeknights after “Destined to Be Yours”.
