In the show, they play triathletes who run, bike and swim. “We’re having a great time doing it. Pareho kaming na-addict sa biking. Excited kaming mapanood ng viewers ang mga ginawa namin dito.”
Gerald has just participated at the Los Angeles Marathon and he has good memories of joining the 42 kilometer run. “Masaya siya. Pero sobrang challenging talaga lalo na nung last 10K na masakit na ang katawan ko. Talagang kailangang puso at isipan mo, mag-focus ka na lang at huwag pansinin yung sakit at pagod. I’m proud natapos ko kasi out of the original 25,000 runners who joined, about 18,000 lang kaming naka-cross sa finish line at iba talaga ang feeling when they put a medal on you signifying that you completed the race. It’s one of the proudest moments in my life.”
In “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin”, he’s also doing a lot of running as Gabriel, a boy from a small town in Zambales who goes to the city and competes with the rich young businessman, Jake Cuenca as Carlos, not only in the triathlon but also for the heart of Kim Chiu. Playing his dad in the story is Daniel Fernando as Victor and Gina Pareno as his Lola Ganda. Playing supporting roles are Bing Loyzaga as Kim’s mom, Grae Fernandez as Kim’s brother, Dante Rivero as Kim's grandpa, Coleen Garcia as Jake’s ex-GF who hates Kim, Andrea Brillantes as Coleen’s sister who is paired with Grae, Ivan Carapiet as Jake’s chief rival in the triathlon and Ayen Munji as the mom of Jake who causes a lot of major conflicts in the story.
“Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” will start airing this Monday before “Showtime” to replace “Langit Lupa”. How does Gerald feel that their show is being shown in the morning and not on primetime? “Okay lang. What is important is that we believe in our project and we all give it our very best, so okay lang kahit anong oras kami. Basta kung gusto naman ng tao ang isang show, kahit anong oras pa, papanoorin din nila.”
