Iya Villania & Husband Drew Arellano Enjoy Working With Each Other As Co-Hosts Of The Original New Game Show, 'People Vs. The Stars'

IYA VILLANIA and husband Drew Arellano are hosting the original GMA game show, “People Vs. the Stars”. At its presscon, they brought their 4-month old son, Primo, with them. “Kasi I’m breastfeeding him at ayokong masanay siya sa bottle kaya isinasama ko, pati sa taping. I want him to need me. Ayokong ma-feel na hindi na niya ako kailangan,” Yia laughs.

Drew says he’s hats off to Iya when it comes to being a good mom. “She’s a first time mother but she’s very phenomenal in doing her job. She’s a working mom but, at night, she still wakes up to feed out son without kicking me on the bed to help her. I think everyday is a Mother’s Day for her.”

“In fairness to Drew, he’s also a hands on dad. When he’s not working, he just stays home helps me in changing Primo’s diapers. He even carries our baby at isinasayaw niya to put him to sleep, until someone warned him na huwag sanayin at baka maghanap,” says Iya.

It’s a lot of fun for them to be working together in one show. “We hosted a cooking show last year, ‘Home Foodie’, pero ten minutes lang yun, unlike this one that runs for one hour. It’s nice kasi we can leave home together and sabay rin kaming umuwi,” says Drew.

“People Vs. the Stars” will feature three guest stars each week. They will be asked 8 questions with a corresponding cash value. If they’d give the correct answers in all the 8 questions, they can win as much as P200,000. In the presscon, some press people acted as contestants and they got only one correct answer. It’s because most of the questions are trick questions so you have to really think carefully first before giving an answer. If the stars fail to give a correct answer, the question’s cash prize goes to the televiewers who can text their answer to the People Question of the Week.

In the first episode they taped, the guests are Kapuso Heartthrobs Alden Richards, Derrick Monasterio and Kristoffer Martin. Featured in the second episode are Kapuso actresses Rhian Ramos, Solenn Heussaff and Carla Abellana. “They are such good contestants,” says Drew. “They made our job as hosts easier, lalo na sina Alden kasi barkada talaga sila at sila mismo, maraming punchlines, lalo na si Kristoffer who’s so kulit and is the clown in their group. Never a dull moment at laugh trip talaga. With this type of game show format, it’s not only the viewers who’ll enjoy but also the guests themselves.”

“People vs. the Stars” will start airing this coming Sunday from 5 to 6 PM on GMA-7.
