Eugene Domingo Says 'Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2' Is Perfect Viewing For The Christmas Season With Its Perfect Script, Direction And Cast

 EUGENE DOMINGO got disappointed when her last films didn’t do as well as expected at the tills, “Instant Mommy” and “Barber’s Tales”, so she decided not to do movies for a while and just concentrated on doing high-paying TV shows, like “Celebrity Bluff” and “Dear Uge”, which are both big hits.

But she’s now back on the big screen in the filmfest entry, “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 2: Forever is Not Enough”, a sequel to the highly successful Cinemalaya entry in 2011. “Septic Tank 1” not only won awards but became a big hit when released theatrically. So what’s the difference between 1 and 2?

“Yung first movie is a spoof on the making of indie films na gustong isali sa international film festivals,” she explains. “Di ba, may pagka-poverty porn yun na yung isang pamilyang maraming anak, naghahati-hati sa iisang pakete ng instant noodles at gagawin pang child prostitute yung anak? Perfect naman ang timing ng paggawa ko uli ng movie kasi lahat ng kasama ko rito, so inspired, from our scriptwriter, si Chris Martinez, to our director, Marlon Rivera, to my co-stars na sina Kean Cipriano, Cai Cortez, Khalil Ramos, and my two leading men, Joel Torre and Jericho Rosales. Perfect ang timing, perfect ang script, perfect ang cast and it’s a perfect family movie for this Christmas season.

Laugh trip from start to finish. Kaya dalhin nyo na ang buong pamilya, buong barkada, boyfriend mo, girlfriend mo dahil garantisado, lahat kayo, kikiligin sa movie. Sobrang matutuwa sila sa character ko na bitch talaga, at sa kung anong mangyayari sa character ko sa ending dahil bitch nga ako.”

How is it working with Jericho Rosales? “He can be serious but also be very funny. Yung kind of comedy niya, very natural. Very cooperative siya. Sineryoso niya ito. Magaan siyang katrabaho at mapagbiro sa lahat ng tao.”

How about Joel Torre? “He’s my indie hero kasi namulat ako in making movies, lalo indie film, dahil sa kanya. Ever since, high school pa lang ako, crush ko na siya. Tapos, nakasama ko siya sa soaps na ginawa ko sa ABS-CBN, kaya tribute namin ito sa kanya. Hanggang ngayon, crush ko pa rin siya. Habang nagkakaedad, lalong gumuguwapo. And he remains to be a very good actor. Kaya don’t miss ‘Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 2’ when it opens in theaters on Christmas Day. What can she say about predictions that she’ll compete with Nora Aunor in “Kabisera” as filmfest best actress? “Wala akong iniisip na ganun. I’m not here to compete, I’m just here to enjoy being part of the filmfest. Besides, this is not a competition. This is a celebration, a celebration of good movies during the holiday season.”
