“I’m thankful to GMA for trusting me with the role of the other woman who will be the cause of the break up of the marriage of Gabby Concepcion and Sunshine Dizon in the story,” she says. “Naiiba yung role kasi very selfish ako rito, the type of girl na kapag may nagustuhan, very determined na gagawin niya ang lahat para makuha ito. It’s very emotionally demanding for me and, so far, I’m enjoying it as I’m also learning so much as an actress.”
It’s also a challenge for her to work with a veteran actor like Gabby Concepcion. “Siempre, intimidated ako noong una kasi matinee idol siya na even my parents, hinahangaan siya. He has worked with the country’s best actresses so I really have to give my best sa mga eksena namin dahil ayokong mapahiya. Big challenge din to work with Ate Sunshine Dizon kasi sobrang galing niyang artista at marami ring awards. Ayoko namang basta lamunin niya ako sa mga eksena namin.”
Ryza was the big winner in Starstruck Batch 2 but her career never really took off. Now that she’s finally given a demanding lead role in “Ikaanim na Utos”, where she also co-stars with co-winner Mike Tan, here’s wishing her good luck and may it be the turning point project that will really give her career the big shot it in the arm that it needs so much. With regard to her love life, it’s common knowledge she’s now playing beautiful music with Cholo Barretto, but she’d rather not talk about it as they want to keep a low profile about their love affair.
