Christopher De Leon Turned Senior Citizen On October 31 But Must Be The Youngest Looking Sexagenarian We Know

CHRISTOPHER DE LEON or Brother Boyet officially acquired a dual citizenship on October 31 when he became a senior citizen at 60 years old. And it seems only yesterday when the late Lino Brocka launched him as a strapping teen actor in the memorable drama “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang” in 1974. It was just his first movie but he quickly won a FAMAS best actor award.

He went on to win more best actor awards for “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?”, “Ikaw ay Akin”, “Haplos”, “God Save Me”, “Kapag Napagod ang Puso” , “Imortal”, “My Other Woman”, “Ipagpatawad Mo”, “Madrasta”, “Nasaan ang Puso”, “Bulaklak ng Maynila”, etc. etc. etc., establishing himself as the best actor of his generation, making every leading lady worth her salt wanting to be paired with him.

There was even a year that he won both the best actor and best supporting actor trophies in the Star Awards when it’s still prestigious and not tainted by vote-buying among its members. He was best actor in 1991 for “Biktima”, where he played a serial killer, and best supporting actor for “Gumapang Ka sa Lusak”, where he played an assassin. We can’t think of anyone else who has achieved the same feat in the history of local films.

At 60, Bro Bo is already a grandfather but he remains fit and trim. He must be the youngest looking sexagenarian we know. He still plays important roles on TV and in film. He currently stars as a filthy rich businessman who has the hots for Lovi Poe in the current hit erotic drama, “The Escort”. They even have a love scene where he is shown taking off Lovi’s panties.

“I felt she’s nervous when we’re about to do the scene so I had to be very gentle with her,” he says. “I told her we have to choreograph the scene well. Idol ko at ninong ang late father niya, si FPJ, who I got to work with in the movie ‘Agila’. And I’m proud to say that FPJ’s daughter is a very good actor like her dad.”

In “The Escort”, Bro Bo’s role as Garry is given its own back story. It turns out he is a widower whose wife just died, leaving a daughter that is not sired by Bro Bo but by her illicit lover. At first, Bro Bo is very cold to the little girl, but he eventually warms up and accepts her as his own. “The Escort” is currently a certified hit making a killing at the box office and has so far raked in P20 million, so they've added more cinemas over the weekend.
