Balikbayan Loren Burgos Gets Her Biggest Break Playing The Lead Role In Diane Ventura's Psychological Thriller, 'Mulat'

LOREN BURGOS has been with Star Magic for sometime but she now gets her first starring role in a movie in Director Diane Ventura’s “Mulat” that opens in tandem on November 2 with “TheRapist” starring Cherie Gil. A member of the Star Magic Angels, Loren has appeared in such shows as “Home Sweetie Home” and “Wansapanataym”. She was born in Manila but their family moved to the States when she was small and she grew up in California where she studied at the police academy at one time, earning her the tag of being One of the Boys. Eventually, she returned to Manila to pursue a showbiz career.

In “Mulat”, she has a hot and sexy love scene with Jake Cuenca. So is she cultivating an image of being a sexy star?

“Okay lang namang magpa-sexy basta may katuturan,” she says. “Ayoko nung magpapakita lang ng katawan na wala namang kawawaan. In ‘Mulat’, I did sexy scenes kasi I get to play the lead role and the character I play is shown undergoing some personal problems with regard to her relationships, first with Ryan Eigenmann, then with Jake. Later on, I start seeing hallucinations that make me doubt my sanity. Mabigat at malalim yung role. Ayokong ma-categorize na basta sexy star. Mas gusto ko pa to do character roles, even contravida, basta challenging lang talaga.”

She admits being so tense and nervous doing the love scene with Jake. “First time ko to do such a scene, so siempre, sobrang kaba ko. We don’t really know each other so mahirap makipag-love scene sa taong hindi mo naman masyadong kilala. I really felt awkward but it’s na good mabait si Jake, very gentle, and kinausap muna niya ako so I’ll be more comfortable with him. Nagawa naman namin nang maayos ang eksena and I’m really happy na ang first movie ko is ‘Mulat’, something I will really be proud of. I think our director, Diane Ventura, brought out the best in me.”
