Rita Daniela Happy To Leave Villain Roles In Soaps To Return To Her First Love, Singing, In 'Superstar Duets'

RITA DANIELA is better known as a contravida in the various soaps she did. But she actually started as a singer when she was still Rita de Guzman, which is why she’s happy that she is included in “Superstar Duets” where she gets to sing again.

“First love ko talaga ang singing kahit noong umaarte pa ako sa soaps,” she says. “So dito sa ‘Superstar Duets’, I’m glad magagawa ko uli something I really enjoy and love doing, ang pagkanta.”

Her last soap was “Let the Love Begin”, where she had a tiff with co-star Donita Rose. “We had a problem sa communication. Naayos na naman so as much as possible, I don’t want to talk about it anymore kasi matagal nang tapos, e.”

What can she say about her competitors in “Superstar Duets” like Joross Gamboa, Pecto, Divine Aucina, Denise Barbacena, Osang, Jerald Napoles and Nar Cabico?  “I think what we’ll have is a friendly competition. Kasi masaya kaming lahat lagi sa taping, along with our host, Jennylyn Mercado, and also the judges na sina Allan K, Christian Bautista and Aicelle Santos. Hindi lang kasi ito puro kantahan kundi may comedy rin, so entertaining talaga. I think viewers will have a good time watching it.”

“Superstar Duets” will replace “Lip Sync Battle” and start airing this Saturday on GMA-7 after “Magpakailanman”. Directed by Bert de Leon, it’s an original concept and not a show franchised from a foreign company.
