Veteran Newsman Angelo Almonte Now Hosts Public Service Show, Proud That Pres. Duterte Is His Kababayan From Davao

ANGELO ALMONTE says Tates Gana has nothing to be worried about her kind of hosting. “Magaling siya,” he says. “She knows what to do at nag-blend kami agad on the air.”
Angelo was born and raised in Davao City so he’s supporting our new Pres. Duterte all the way. “I’m a martial arts champion then at si Pres. Duterte used to be a member of our club,” he says. “He promises drastic change for our country and our government, so sana, masunod lahat at magkatotoo ang mga plano niya for us.”

He studied at the University of Mindanao and, at 19, he became a karate instructor and also a DJ. In 1989, he auditioned with ABS-CBN in Manila and was immediately hired as a newsreader for DZMM. “Isinama ako kay Ted Failon sa DZMM Network News and I eventually became a news director. I stayed with ABS for 21 years. I took their offer for early retirement in 2011, then I moved to Solar TV, which became CNN Philippines. But I’m leaving them na kasi I really want to go back to radio at magandang opportunity itong ‘Serbisyo Publiko’ DZRJ for me to be of help to people. Lahat ng klaseng problema at reklamo, tatanggapin namin dito, from OFW’s na hindi makauwi to people needing legal services. Wala kaming tatanggihan.”

If you want to ask their help, call 0917-7988910 or their direct line, 412-0288. Now also with DZRJ and 8 Tri-TV is veteran broadcaster Rey Langit whose “Kasangga Mo ang Langit” will be heard weekdays, 10 to 11 AM, and he’ll also do the Balita sa Tanghali at 12 noon. DZRJ programs are so varied. For the latest showbiz news and views, don’t miss the inimitable trio of Rommel Placente, Mildred Bacud and the living legend, Rodel Ocampo Fernando in “Showbiz Galore” daily at 3 to 4 PM, and Shalala’s show, “Shalala and Frendz”, at 12:30 noon. For your medical problems, tune in to “Klinika on Air”, weeknights 6 to 7 PM, with Drs. Edwin Bien, Rey Salinel, Charlie Mendez, Cecille Catapang, and John Reyes. For problems about relationships, listen to Fr. Luciano Felloni in “Hope for the Heart” 9:30 to 11 pm and to Papa Tolits in “Heart to Heart”, 11 PM to 1 AM.
