Yasmien Kurdi Reveals The Truth About Her, Rainier Castillo, Katrina & Sheena Halili During Their Starstruck Days

WE VISITED the set of “Sa Piling ni Nanay” in Clark Field, Pampanga and had a long talk with Yasmien Kurdi, who plays the title role of the nanay, Isabel. Everyone’s saying that she should guard her husband, Rey Soldevilla, who’s a pilot like Sunshine Dizon’s erring hubby, and is also tall and handsome. Otherwise, she might end up like Sunshine whose marriage is now over.

“You know, may confidence ako sa husband ko,” she says. “We have trust in each other. Akong first girlfriend niya and he’s my first boyfriend. Very supportive kami sa career namin at hindi kami magiging hadlang sa pag-asenso ng bawat isa. At kung magluluko yan, sana noon pang flight attendant pa lang siya na ang dami niyang kasamang magagandang female attendants. Kahit saan naman, may tukso at kahit pigilan mo, kung gugustuhin ng lalaki, magluluko pa rin, but I can feel my husband is not like that.”

She says Rey is her first BF, but wasn’t she on then with her ka-love team in Starstruck, Rainier Castillo? “No. Kaming pinagpapareha noon, but actually, may iba siyang girlfriend that time, si Sheena Halili. Never naging kami.”

Katrina Halili plays the villain Scarlet in “Sa Piling ni Nanay”. Looks like they’ve become really close to each other. “Yes, but during our Starstruck days, binu-bully niya ako. Tuwing may sasabihin ako, lagi akong binabara at naiiyak na lang ako. So pag nandiyan siya noon, tumatahimik na lang ako.”

Katrina butts in. “She was just 14 years old then at ako, 17 na. Pabibo siyang bata, e. Very competitive during the contest. Siempre, patalbugan kami noon.”

“But now, okay na kami,” says Yasmien. “Na-realize kong ang bait pala ni Kat. Pareho na kaming nanay so we talk about our daughters. Hindi na kami nagpapatalbugan.”

This week in “Sa Piling ni Nanay”, Yasmien as Isabel and her daughter Sofia Cabatay as Maya are finally able to escape from the clutches of the abusive Antonio Aquitania as Rod. But as fate would have it, Sofia gets sick and Yasmien takes her to the hospital where she is diagnosed to be suffering from dengue fever. The child needs blood transfusion but Yasmien doesn’t have any money and she’s also wanted by the police because Nova Villa as Donya Matilda has accused her of kidnapping her own child.

The show’s executive producer, the very amiable Jojo Aleta who really took good care of all the writers who visited them on the set, says this coming week will be an even more exciting one for “Sa Piling ni Nanay”. “Nova Villa will succeed in getting the child Sofia from Yasmien and there will be a court case,” he says. “Mahirap ang kaso kasi walang precedent about surrogate mothers in our country. E, surrogate mom lang si Yasmien dito and it’s presumed that the egg planted in her uterus belongs to Katrina Halili, but then, it’s revealed that hindi pala talaga kay Katrina kinuha yung egg kasi baog nga siya. The key to who the real mother of the child is lies in the doctor who administered the artificial insemination process kay Yasmien, si Bettina Carlos as Wanda. So abangan nyo dahil magiging very complicated ito dahil lalabas pa ang tunay na ina ng bata na pinagkunan ng egg used in conceiving the child.”
