Maine Mendoza Says She's Satisfied To Stay With 'Eat Bulaga' "Sa Habang Panahon"

MAINE MENDOZA celebrated her first anniversary in showbiz last Monday. It was on July 4 of last year that she officially joined “Eat Bulaga” as the snooty yaya/alalay of Wally Bayola as Lola Nidora in the “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment. She didn’t talk at all then. When she’d answer any question addressed to her, she’d answer through Dubsmash. In her IG account, she recalled how she auditioned and her waiting if “Eat Bulaga” would call her back.

And she wrote: “And they did call me back. And the rest is history. I became the person I wanted to be, and steering to be a better one. I have conquered a lot of my fears, confronted different challenges and achieved far beyond my expectations; and it wouldn’t happen if not because of Eat Bulaga. ‘Tila bang ako’y isang sanggol na ipinanganak, dito nagsimula at nabago ang lahat. And for that, I am beyond grateful. Maraming salamat sa Panginoon. Maraming salamat sa Eat Bulaga. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.”

It’s indeed an unforgettable year for Yaya Dub as her pairing with Alden Richards catapulted her to stardom all over the world. She became a multi-millionaire because of her numerous endorsements. She made a movie, “My Bebe Love”, and even won as best supporting actress. Now, she plays her first lead role in “Imagine You & Me” and became a songwriter when she wrote its theme song.

What’s nice about Maine is that her feet remain firmly planted on the ground. Asked if she’s hurt when bashers say she wouldn’t make it big without Alden and she’d be back to oblivion after their love team wanes, she says she’s not. “Totoo naman po yun. Nakilala ako dahil sa love team namin. Basta happy na ako sa narating ko ngayon.”

Someone suggested she should do a real teleserye, not just a kalyeserye, with Alden. “I know my limitations. Kasi ako po, hindi ko kayang sabayan si Alden sa acting dahil ang husay-husay niyang magdrama. Ako, hanggang comedy lang. Okay lang sa akin kung forever na sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ lang ako. Tama na yung natupad ko ang dream kong maging artista at meron kaming solo movie ni Alden. Puede na akong sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ lamang sa habang panahon.”

Does she feel any pressure now that their movie will be shown starting July 13? “Siempre, hindi mawawala ang pressure, ang kaba. But we’re confident ni Alden na maganda ang nagawa naming movie. Ang galing din kasi ni Direk Mike Tuviera and first time may local movie na nag-shoot on location sa napakagandang Lake Como in Italy. So hindi kami mapapahiyang imbitahin ang viewers na panoorin ito. After Tamang Panahon na show namin noon sa Philippine Arena, ito ang biggest project ng love team namin and we’re so excited about it kaya sana, panoorin ito ng mga tao.”
