James Blanco Trains Well For His Action-Drama Role In 'Pilapil'

JAMES BLANCO was launched as a member of the “Cool Dudes” by Regal in 2001. He’s now the only one who’s still very active. His contemporaries are Danilo Barrios (now retired) and Cogie Domingo (now you see him, now you don’t.) He turned 35 last month and he’s thankful that even if he’s now married and with kids, he continues to get good projects.

He’s now getting positive feedback for his performance in the ToFarm Filmfest entry, “Pilapil”, as Victor, a simple man from the province who goes astray in the big city and gets involved with a crime syndicate. This is now showing at SM Megamall and SM North Edsa up to July 19.

“First time ko to do action scenes so pinaghandaan ko talaga ito,” he says. “Buti na lang nasa kondisyon naman ang katawan ko to do taxing scenes kasi i don’t eat pork and beef anymore, fish and chicken lang, and vegetables. At siempre, I do regular work outs. I also studied my character well, kasi sa akin umiikot ang buong story and later, sa relationship ko with a blind boy called Boknoy, played by David Remo. Marami kaming magagandang eksena na both funny and dramatic. Mahirap lang kasi we shot this noong kasagsagan ng summer season at lagi kaming pawis na pawis dahil sa sobrang init. Pero nang mapanood ko na yung movie, it’s worth it. Maganda ang naging resulta ng lahat ng pagod at hirap namin ni Direk Jojo Nadela.”
