DIRECTOR JUN LANA’S new movie, “Bakit Lahat ng Guwapo, May Boyfriend?”, is a unique kind of romcom. It’s not your typical love triangle as the love affair is between the very sexy Anne Curtis, the macho Dennis Trillo and the gay Paolo Ballesteros. The film had its first shooting day at the St. Vincent Seminary on Tandang Sora and it’s obvious that its three main stars are having a good time working with each other in this one of a kind story that has all the makings of a big hit.
“Maganda ang chemistry nilang tatlo on screen,” says Direk Jun Lana. “Matutuwa ang audience sa kakaibang rivalry na mangyayari sa kanilang tatlo. Sa story, si Anne, ex-girlfriend ni Paolo, pero si Dennis naman ang childhood sweetheart ni Paolo. So sino sa palagay nyo ang dapat na magwagi kay Paolo, si Anne o si Dennis?”
Of the three stars, it’s but natural for the press people who visited the set to seek Paolo as he is the one who’s quite controversial these days after he was suspended from “Eat Bulaga”.
“I miss it na nga, e,” he says. “Kasi four months na kong wala roon. Buti na lang, busy ako sa two movies. Itong ‘Bakit Lahat ng Guwapo, May Boyfriend?’ at ‘yung ‘Die Beautiful’ na gay rin ang role ko. When I wake up each morning, I’m reminded, ay wala pala akong ‘Eat Bulaga’. And I miss the whole show, yung mga kasama ko, pati yung mga taong ini-interview namin sa mga bara-barangay. Nakaka-touch nga, kasi, sa social media, tinatanong ako ng mga tao, kailan ka ba babalik? Nami-miss na raw nila ako. Ang sweet, di ba? Pero wala naman akong masabi. Basta sad lang ako.”
Does he have communication with his “Eat Bulaga” Dabarkads? “Oo naman. May viber group kami at member pa rin naman ako dun. Anniversary nga ng show at binati ko sila ng happy anniversary. Sumagot naman sila ng Happy Anniversary to us.”
Isn’t he worried he’s always playing gay roles and he might be stereotyped in such characters? “Choosy pa ba ko? Yung iba nga, walang trabaho. At masaya naman, e. Yung pagme-make up kong ginagaya ko ang kung sinu-sinong Hollywood actresses, nalagay na sa international news, so enjoy ako.”
