Director Adolf Alix Is Better Known For Drama, Now Tries Doing Comedy In 'Conan My Beautician' With Mark Herras & Megan Young

DIRECTOR ADOLF ALIX is better known for dramas both in movies (“Whistleblower”) and on TV (“Karelasyon”). He now gets to direct a comedy in “Conan My Beautician” that starts airing this Sunday at 5:30PM. “They were looking for a replacement for the show ‘Alamat’ and I pitched this at nagustuhan naman nila yung concept about a straight guy who pretends he’s gay to avoid a stalker obsessed with him,” he says.

How did he get Mark Herras to play the title role? “Through auditions. Nagbading-bading siya and I was impressed. We presented him to management and he was approved. But he has to step up sa taping kasi totoong gays ang mga kasama niya sa cast.”

Why did he get Megan Young as Mark’s love interest? “Nang mag-guest siya in ‘Dangwa’, ang taas ng ratings. Kasama rin doon si Mark and okay ang chemistry nila, so pinagsama namin sila rito. She’s a runaway bride who gets Mark to pretend na boyfriend niya ito, kahit na ang pagkakaalam niya, bading si Mark. Magaling si Megan. Nakakasabay siyang mag-comedy sa totoong comedians.”

Adolf continues to make full length movies. He has just finished “Laro” with Nora Aunor. “Aswang na nymphomaniac ang role ni Ate Guy kaya may pagka-horror ito. Kasama niya sina Martin del Rosario and Sebastian Castro. I’m also doing a movie in Japan, ‘Some Other Time’. This will star Janine Gutierrez, na siyang choice ng Japanese producers. We’ll shoot there on location kapag tapos na yung soap ni Janine na ‘Once Again’.”
