GMA Records Launches Debut Album Of A New Boyband Called Top, Which Stands For Top One Project

GMA RECORDS launches the debut album of a new boyband called T.O.P. or TOP, which stands Top One Project. The five members are the winners of their boy band search, “To the Top”, held last year from July to September. They are Louie Pedroso, Joshua Jacobe, Mico Manguba, Adrian Pascual, and Mico Cruz. “When we first joined, there were about 200 contestants,” says Louie. “This was trimmed to 50, then to 25, until the top 14 were chosen as finalists in the show and we’re all competing with each other housed in the same music camp. Doon sa 14, kami ang limang napili as winners.”

Louie is 20 years old, the first of three kids (his younger sisters are twins), and is taking up B.S. psychology in UST with plans of going into medicine later. All of them compose songs but Louie is the main writer of the song “San Na”. “But lahat kami, nagtulungan. It’s a collaboration, but ako yung nakaisip ng theme ng kanta which is a sad love song, kasi ilang beses na akong nabasted.”

Isn’t there any rivalry between when they perform? “Noong solo-solo pa kami, yes, but now that we’re all members of TOP, wala na. We really enjoy performing together.”

Aside from “San Na”, the other songs in their debut album are “Paggising” (the carrier single), “Kaya Ko, Kaya Mo”, “Bakit Gan’on?”, “Somebody” and “Alaala”. All the five boys have terrific vocal pipes and given the right push, we have no doubt they’ll hit it big. Watch out for them as they perform in “Sunday PinaSaya” this Sunday.
