Connie Sison on being Aiko Melendez look alike

CONNIE SISON FORMS a “love team” with Ivan Mayrina in GMA News TV’s new show, “On Call”, a daily public service program announcing job vacancies, providing legal assistance and tackling problems of women and children starting February 28. The last time we interviewed, Connie was still with ABS. So why did she move to GMA?

“I started with ABS and they gave me a lot of good opportunities so I won’t ever say anything bad against them,” she says. “But there comes a time in everyone’s career that you get to think on how you can enhance your talent more, both as an anchor and a reporter. It just so happened the best time for me to transfer came kaya lumipat na ako dahil ang gaganda ng shows ko ngayon sa GMA. I anchor ‘Balita Tanghali’ and also I welcome doing ‘On Call’ kasi makakatulong kami sa maraming tao, including reuniting missing persons with their families.”

A lookalike of Aiko Melendez who just broke up with politician BF Patrick Meneses, people call her Aiko when they see her in public. “Hindi ko na lang kinokorek kasi hahaba pa. I just wave at them.”

As for Ivan Mayrina, he knows he’s being groomed as a serious broadcaster like Mike Enriquez and Arnold Clavio so he’s now very careful with his lifestyle to make sure he’ll have good credibility. He has even stopped smoking. “I hope ‘On Call’ will make the viewers get to know me better. Connie and I get along fine because we’re of the same age at pareho kaming may family with two kids.”
